Share Your Experience with the Living Compendium

The Living Compendium welcomes you to share experiences, observations, and questions about housing and building systems. You do not need to be an expert, researcher, or professional to contribute. Contributions are shared as learning—not judged, reviewed, or graded.

You can contribute in many forms: short or longer reflections, stories, photos, drawings, audio recordings, videos, or collaborative work with others. Contributions might describe something you’ve experienced, a challenge you’ve noticed, a project you’ve been part of, or a question that doesn’t yet have a clear answer. You do not need to offer solutions or conclusions.

Contributions are understood as pieces of a larger picture. They can change over time, and you are welcome to return to them later to add more, clarify your thinking, or share what you’ve learned since.

Once shared publicly, contributions appear as entries and become part of the Living Compendium, helping others learn from many experiences over time.

How to Contribute

  1. Start with what you know
Share something you’ve noticed, experienced, or wondered about. This could come from daily life, work, community involvement, or personal reflection.
  2. Choose an easy format
Write a short piece, record a voice memo, share photos, upload a video, or combine different media. There’s no “right” format.
  3. Add a little context (optional but valuable)
Briefly explain where your experience comes from—your community, role, place, or situation—it can help others can better understand it.
  4. Send it in
Send the contribution to mbar@bchousing.org. If you’re unsure how to submit, help is available.

Stay involved if you want
You’re welcome to come back later to update or expand your contribution, or to share new reflections as things change
